Ashley Farrell: Reviews
So what if she's no "Cover Girl"--Ashley Farrell has a look, and more importantly a sound, entirely her own, and one that will surely leave a lasting imprint on everyone who listens to this album. Everybody's comparing her wth Avril and Michelle Branch, and while these comparisons are validated in "Hear Me Out" and "No Apologies," tracks like "Let Go" present vocals and riffs reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and, at times, Alanis Morrisette. The album is a fabulous mix of pop, rock, and punk, and I'm sure that if Farrell keeps up the good work, and can hold her own in live performances, she will go very far.
Ashley Farrell "Hear Me Out" is a CD that represents the inauguration of a promising young artist into musical stardom. Her exclusive blend of pop and rock magnify the scope that Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne have laid out for young female artists. Farrell melodically woos us with honestly relatable tracks like "I Love You" and "Cover Girl", as well as seducing our ears to sing along to songs like "Hear Me Out", "Heartbreak", and "No Apologies". Farrell can be measured against peer artists such as Mandy Moore, Vanessa Carlton, and Lillix with the potential to surpass the standards of "chick rock" with impressive maturity and clear-cut sass. My advice: give these songs a listen or else years from now, you'll be kicking yourself for not getting to know this inspiring songstress sooner!
